DOT Physical Exam

What it is

Understanding dot physical exam

A DOT physical confirms that a commercial driver meets the medical standards required to operate safely. The exam covers vital signs, vision, hearing and blood pressure, along with overall fitness for duty.

Drivers need to pass it to obtain or renew a CDL. We see truckers, bus drivers and anyone operating a commercial vehicle, and we run them efficiently because we know a day off the road costs you.

How it works

How to prepare for the exam

Small things the day before make a real difference to how the exam goes.

Sleep well the night before. Rest supports healthy blood pressure and alertness on the day, and blood pressure is one of the things being measured.

Bring your paperwork. Glasses or contacts, hearing aids, and a current list of any medication you take, along with relevant records from your own doctor.

Go easy on salt and caffeine. Both can push blood pressure up on the morning of an exam, which is a needless way to complicate an otherwise straightforward appointment.
