New patients

Know what happens
before you arrive.

No mystery and no pressure. Here is exactly how a first visit runs at Action Chiropractic.

How it works

Your first visit, step by step.

Most first visits run about an hour, and most people are treated the same day rather than being sent away to come back.

Assess

01

Assess

We start by finding out how you actually move. Hands-on assessment of movement, tension and tissue texture, plus the history of how this started, because that usually explains more than the symptom does.

Explain

02

Explain

You get told what we found and what we think is driving it, in plain language, before anything is treated. Patients regularly tell us this is the part other clinics skipped.

Treat

03

Treat

Adjusting, ART, needling, IASTM, cupping or laser, chosen for what the assessment found rather than a fixed routine. Most visits combine two of them.

Rebuild

04

Rebuild

Freed tissue needs a reason to stay free. You leave with specific work to do, and we re-check whether the change is holding rather than assuming it is.

Come prepared

What to bring with you.

Come about ten minutes early for the paperwork. None of the below is essential, but each one saves time on the day.

  • Photo ID
  • Your insurance card
  • Clothes you can move in
  • Any scans or reports you have
  • A list of your medications
  • Notes on what helps or hurts

Insurance & payment

Straight answers, before you commit.

We would rather have the money conversation up front than surprise you afterwards.

Insurance

Coverage varies a great deal between plans. Call us at (630) 699-9858 with your details before your visit and we will go through what yours covers.

Paying directly

You do not need insurance to be seen here. Ask about self-pay when you book and you will get the figure before you commit to anything.

Booking

Scheduling is online and takes a minute. Pick a time that suits you, or call the office if you would rather talk it through first.

Call (630) 699-9858 and we will answer any of these directly.

Good questions

Before your first visit.

What happens at my first visit?

We take your history, then assess how you actually move by hand. You will be told what we found and what we think is driving it before anything is treated, and in most cases treatment starts the same visit.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly using the scheduling link or by calling the office.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Chiropractic is a drug-free, non-surgical approach with a long safety record. We assess before we treat, and where a forceful adjustment would not be appropriate, such as with disc involvement, we use gentler options like flexion distraction instead.

Does an adjustment hurt?

Most people find the adjustment itself quick and easy. Soft tissue work such as ART or dry needling can be uncomfortable while it is happening, and we will tell you before we do it rather than surprising you.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what we find, how long it has been going on, and what you need to get back to. You will get an honest answer after the assessment rather than a package quoted before we have examined you.

Do you take my insurance?

Coverage differs a lot between plans, so the honest answer is to call us at (630) 699-9858 with your details and we will go through it with you before you commit to anything.

Do you treat people who are not athletes?

Yes, and most of our patients are not competing at anything. The sports training simply means we are used to working out why something keeps coming back under load, which applies just as much to a desk job as to a race.
